The Boulder International Film Festival is officially in full swing at the Hotel Boulderado and The Rembrandt Yard. Festival attendees are gearing up for a weekend filled of viewing pleasure at the opening night gala.
The Rembrandt Yard hosted a two floor kick-off party. Outside stood a magnificent white horse with a “Planet of the Apes” character atop. On the first floor attendees mingled and listened to soft jazz music while interacting with Miss Sally and her host from the Cabaret, Queen Elizabeth I, and Mr. Spock.
When rounding the corner going up the stairs, many guests were lucky enough to be greeted by Bride of Frankenstein’s piercing screams. A jazz pianist played in the center of the room adorned with white paper lanterns and beautiful art. Attendees speculated about tonight’s film, “The Wrecking Crew” while enjoying appetizers from Jax Fish House and Centro Restaurant. One couple, who just returned from skiing Snowmass remarked, “We’re really looking forward to tonight’s movie. It’s reminiscent of the good ol’ times for us.”
The Hotel Boulderado event room was filled with attendees eating and drinking while listening to a beautiful jazz trio. Black circle tables allowed festival goers to talk about what lies ahead this weekend. Servers walked around offering delicious hors d’oeuvres. The main character from the 1984 film, “The NeverEnding Story” stood in front of a huge white dragon with a chomping mouth, while frantically asking newcomers “Have you seen the human child?”. Walking between the two venues feels reminiscent of Halloween in Boulder. It’s the perfect event for pass-holders to let out their quirky idiosyncrasies.
The Rembrandt Yard and the Hotel Boulderado were filled with energy to kick off this year’s best BIFF ever.
